The Pine Lodge

By understanding how the town used to function before, and how it can go back to that state. While keeping in mind that this is an opportunity for them to modify certain aspects of their town, to prepare it for the next generations so they can take ownership of it and continue to make it a thriving community. After meeting with the Greenville community over two different workshops, the topics that were most
mentioned were: Community, Gathering, Eating, Learning, and Shorts term residential. We listened to their wants, needs, and concerns and took close attention to detail when elaborating our program proposal to make sure that they closely resembled what was said in the workshops. Our proposal includes a communal kitchen with outdoor cooking and eating space, a coffee shop that interacts with a co-working/study space, and an auditorium for the community to gather and have important conversations regarding the town of Greenville. As well as a recreation Center for interaction and socializing, a makers space for anyone who
has woodworking experience or a business that can help them restart it even if they don’t have the tools in their home; and a short-term residential space, designed to accommodate workers who will help rebuild the town back. By paying attention to these specific aspects the team hopes to make a small contribution to the community of Greenville so they can rebuild their town and thrive once more.
